Bridal henna featuring Anam Cara (soul friend) Celtic knot with heart, plus sunflower, eucalyptus, and pansies.

This design featuring a heart-shaped Celtic knot (the anam cara / soul friend knot) was done for Erica + Jen’s wedding. I dig the way the heart knotwork looks!!! Our goal was to do what we dubbed shin guard style henna that fit in with a Celtic wedding theme, incorporating some of her wedding flowers – eucalyptus greens (aka silver dollars), and the best goshdarn sunflowers I have done in henna yet in my life (if I do say so myself). Giving your henna artist just a liiiiittle bit of guidance yields excellent results – future brides take note 🙂 She just told me she wanted something Celtic, and some flowers. There ya go!

I know that sometimes people wonder how long these things take, so I will just let you know that due to the complexity of freehanding knotwork, plus all that shading, these took a looooong time. I could bang out something similar-ish in 2.5 hours if it was done more on autopilot with less unique / hard-to-draw elements done with lest precision, but honestly, these took just under 4.
