I’m so happy to hear you are interested in learning henna!
My #1 recommendation to learn as much as possible, and in the most efficient way ever, would be to come out to California for the Spring Fling Henna Conference next Feb/March.
In the past I used to run a similar conference here on the east coast, but it just got to be too much. It’s BY FAR the best way to delve deeply into henna, though. You will learn a ton, make friends, and get inspired to keep learning and practicing more!

Yes, from the 2010s, but, especially compared to the many many millenia people have been doing henna, not too much has changed!
And anything that has, I have put in the just-5-years-old update at the bottom of the list.
You’ll need to get your hands on some good quality supplies first.

Here’s your shopping list:
100g Mohana henna (2024 crop is a little cheaper than 2025, and just as good! or get 2025 if you want)
1oz cajeput essential oil
not necessary but nice to have the first time: prerolled cones
You might want to double up on each of those, if funds allow – the first batch will be a learning experience, and the second will be much better!
Better to just pay for the shipping once 🙂
And then, at the regular grocery store, you’ll need to get some Real Lemon brand (important!!!) bottled lemon (never lime!) juice
With that you should be able to follow along with the Henna How To Playlist videos and mix up a batch.
After you’ve tried your first batch, check back in with me with your observations and questions, and I’ll be happy to help.
But yes, as you have surmised by now, I am currently taking the “I’ve already given the world everything I’ve got in full, for free, and publicly!” approach to teaching, and and not doing private lessons at this time 🙂
